Church Central has an interesting article on church planting strategies. Ed Stetzer, president of LifeWay Research, offers a number of different strategies and techniques that have been proven to work.

One example is a pastor that successfully used an online strategy including a blog, Facebook and Twitter. 500 people came to his first church service.

“High tech” methods don’t necessarily eliminate “high touch,” though. Stetzer identifies numerous ways new churches seek to reach their communities, including forming partnerships with established congregations. One high touch method he prefers is hand-addressed envelopes. People are much more likely to open them than to open a label printed envelope.

Even the time of year can be important. Stetzer suggests early fall is best and that summer is not a good time because of vacations and family activities.
